2017 Movie Review #6 – Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Everyone knows the story of Harry Potter. It’s kind of hard not to. It’s hard to ignore the aspect of this gigantic world. Here’s the thing, it’s in a different part of the world now. New York City. But some 60 years before Harry Potter’s story begins. 1926. Magical Zoologist Newt Scamander is in New York with a case full of magical creatures that he intends to free, the most notable of which is a Thunderbird he named Frank. He wants the world to be able to study these animals and unfortunately for him, the wizarding world in America doesn’t feel the same way that people do in Great Britain. Everyone thinks that he is there to start trouble, and nobody wants to hear him. I was impressed with the details that went into this movie, as well as the backstory of Grindenwald (Voldemort’s predecessor) attacking people in Europe as well as in the U.S. If you are a Harry Potter fan, this movie is great. I also had the Screenplay book that was written by J.K. Rowling, IT WAS REALLY AWESOME!
